Pixelgrinder LED is a small, independent maker-led business. That means we don’t have the scale to pretend we’re “carbon neutral” or perfectly waste-free, but it does mean we can make deliberate, practical choices about how things are made, packed, + shipped.

Packaging choices

Wherever possible, we aim to:

  • use recyclable, non-plastic packaging materials.
  • reuse packaging we receive from suppliers when it’s clean, protective, and fit for purpose.

You may occasionally receive an order packed with reused materials. This is intentional. Reusing packaging extends its life and helps reduce unnecessary waste, even if it isn’t always perfectly uniform or shiny.

We prioritise protection of the product first, then minimise excess packaging wherever we can.

Plastics

Some components and protective materials inevitably involve plastic, particularly where electrical safety or impact protection is concerned. When plastic is necessary, we aim to:

  • keep it to the minimum required.
  • avoid single-use plastic where viable alternatives exist.
  • favour recyclable materials where available.

Kits and components

Pixelgrinder products are available as DIY kits. This has a few sustainability benefits:

  • fewer fully assembled items shipped unnecessarily,
  • easier repair or replacement of individual parts,
  • longer product lifespans through user maintenance and modification.

We also make documentation and build information openly available, encouraging repair, reuse, and adaptation rather than disposal.

Continuous improvement

Sustainability isn’t a finished checklist, it’s an ongoing process. As we grow we’ll continue to review:

  • packaging materials,
  • suppliers,
  • shipping methods,
  • and opportunities to reduce waste further.

If you have suggestions or notice areas we could improve, we genuinely want to hear from you. You can contact us at hello@pixelgrinder.co.uk.
